OVERVIEW

CDCDG is the lead data center design consultant for the design of the National Center For Atmospheric Research Supercomputer data center. This project is being built in phases and will ultimately be a 24MW supercomputing facility. The site chosen for this project is located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Cheyenne provides nearly ideal atmospheric conditions for free cooling in a data center. With an estimated PUE of less than 1.15, this data center will be on the cutting edge of energy efficient data center design.

National Center of Atmospheric Research

SERVICES PROVIDED

CDCDG has completed the preliminary design including:

  1. Assisting the client with the facility's programming requirements and preparing a conceptual electrical design that meets those requirements
  2. Establishing the area requirements within the facility, in terms of spatial, and adjacencies/flow analysis.
  3. Establishing the IT load requirements, and level of mechanical and electrical reliability expectations.
  4. CDCDG are also engaging a sustainable design approach that includes minimal environment impact and very high levels of energy efficiency.
  5. An analysis of the feasibility of receiving electrical energy from renewable energy sources such as a local wind farm.
  6. This project is also being programmed to meet the Federal Government's Homeland Security Department mandated site security requirements.
